The Bridgeland Main Streets project is moving into its third season of construction starting the week of April 14, 2025. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2025. This phase will include operational and streetscape improvements along 1 Ave N.E. This construction season, work will occur across multiple blocks at a time, progressing in stages along 1 Ave N.E. from 8A St. to 4 St. N.E.

The City by agreement under the Alberta Public Lands Act can use the lands for an off-leash dog area. However, as of 2024 the lands have temporarily reverted back to the Province for Deerfoot Trail construction purposes, anticipated to be ongoing until the end of 2027.

To complete the work, there will be a full closure of the 1 Ave N.E. and 6 St. N.E. intersection for approximately 1 week. Work will begin the week of March 24, 2025. Construction is expected to last 4 weeks.

The goal of the Playground Optimization program is to transform playgrounds that have reached the end of their lifecycle and to create revived park spaces. We are not looking to change the use of the park, but rather to develop greenspaces that become more welcoming for more people in the community. As we move to prioritize playground quality over quantity while still maintaining our commitment to ensuring that there are 5 nearby playgrounds for every 1000 kids under 12, we look to both replace aging play structures with new playground equipment or to reimagine these spaces with alternative park amenities.
Read MoreBeginning March 17 through to early April, the Green Line is undertaking a series of borehole tests, identifying utility locations along the future LRT alignment. The objective of this project is to determine whether existing utilities (owned by ATCO, ENMAX, The City of Calgary, Bell, TELUS and Shaw/Rogers) along the Green Line route need to be relocated or can be protected in place.
Test sites are limited to City-owned property but may impact general traffic in the area. There are approximately 200 locations across the SE Segment of the Green Line LRT, on City-owned land. Each investigation is expected to take one day with work happening between 9:00am and 3:30pm. Where there are potential impacts to residences or businesses, the Green Line team will contact those who may be directly affected.

Public Realm Improvements along 11th Street SE and 12th Street SE have been identified as the first Stage of construction in Ramsay and Inglewood for the City’s Transit Oriented Development (TOD) program. This work will improve future connections to transit and nearby public spaces, while supporting multi-model transportation and investing in better public spaces.

With Calgary’s population expected to grow by nearly half a million people over the next 30 years, the demand for efficient, sustainable transit services will only increase. The new South Central Bus Garage will provide the capacity to double the number of buses currently accommodated at Victoria Park over time, ensuring we can continue to provide reliable transit options to Calgarians.

CN Rail Playpark is in the Transportation Utility Corridor in the community of Applewood Park in SE Calgary. The park currently features small climbing play elements (installed in 2017) and is underutilized. The goal is to enhance the park and provide a multi-generational space for the community.

From now until March 27, 2025, the City of Calgary will be conducting engagement for the Beaumont Circus Project.
This project is part of the City of Calgary’s plan to improve public spaces in established neighborhoods. Beaumont Circus, located in the growing and evolving community of Renfrew, is being improved to better serve the needs of all residents, both old and new. These enhancements are funded through the Established Areas Growth and Change Strategy.
