Green Line Ground Investigations
Beginning March 17 through to early April, the Green Line is undertaking a series of borehole tests, identifying utility locations along the future LRT alignment. The objective of this project is to determine whether existing utilities (owned by ATCO, ENMAX, The City of Calgary, Bell, TELUS and Shaw/Rogers) along the Green Line route need to be relocated or can be protected in place. The utilities are o
Test sites are limited to City-owned property but may impact general traffic in the area. There are approximately 200 locations across the SE Segment of the Green Line LRT, on City-owned land. Each investigation is expected to take one day with work happening between 9:00am and 3:30pm. Where there are potential impacts to residences or businesses, the Green Line team will contact those who may be directly affected.

What is the work?
Green Line is drilling a series of small boreholes along the SE Segment. The drilling is necessary to locate utilities and survey points to progress the design of the Green Line LRT and support construction. These efforts are crucial for understanding potential conflicts and ensuring the seamless integration of the utilities with the overall Green Line construction plan
Scope of work
The project involves the investigation and reinstatement of multiple work areas, ensuring that any disturbances to the environment or infrastructure are restored after work is completed.
Comprehensive survey data will be collected, covering various essential aspects such as ground and surface water surveying, land surveying, geological surveys, and hydrological surveys. These efforts are crucial for understanding potential conflicts and ensuring the seamless integration of the utilities with the overall Green Line construction plan.
