Jane’s Walk 2023 is taking place May 5, 6 + 7. Calgarians of all ages are invited to participate in free walking tours throughout the city!
A global event inspired by and in honour of Jane Jacobs, an urbanist and activist who championed a fresh, community-based approach to city building. Jane believed that in order to properly observe how people, through their actions and interactions, create communities with a strong sense of belonging, we need to get out and walk the city.

The south walkway remains open for pedestrian use.
The road closure is necessary to continue preemptive repairs to the rail overpass. This work was started in November of 2022.

Community Cleanup events save residents a trip to the landfill for items that do not fit in their waste and recycling carts or for residents who do not have access to cart service. This service is free of charge to all Calgarians.

The Calgary Zoo’s seasonal West gate will close effective October 11, 2022. During the closure of West gate, eligible Calgary Zoo members who live in the communities of Inglewood and Ramsay are welcome to access the Zoo through the West Security entrance with their valid zoo membership AND special Community Pedestrian Pass.
If you don’t already have a Pedestrian Pass, please confirm your eligibility for the pass by emailing ward09@calgary.ca, including a photo of your valid zoo membership and proof of address.
Valid only for Inglewood and Ramsay residents who are valid zoo members. Proof of Zoo membership and address will be required.
Valid only for Day Admissions – Daily 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (during West gate closure only)
To gain access through the Security entrance, members must present both a valid membership card along with a valid Community Pedestrian Pass.
Access will not be granted without the presentation of both cards
If membership has expired, access through the security gate will not be granted. The Security Team does not have the capability to capture payment or complete transactions; however, this can be done at the north entrance gate, online or over the phone.
Access applies to pedestrians only; there is no public parking available.
Members entering at the Security gate are only able to bring a guest if they have a valid Guest membership or the guest presents a valid day admission ticket.
Members are not able to bring guests who are non-members without a valid day admission ticket as Security does not have the capability to capture payment or complete transactions.
As the Security Team does not have the capability to capture payment or complete transactions, there will be no special access for any evening events including ZOOLIGHTS (apart from our Inspire members)
ZOOLIGHTS SEASON
Eligible members will only gain access through our Security entrance up to 3:00pm daily during the Zoolights season (please visit our website for updated gates and building closure information)
Apart from our Inspire members, there will be no special member access during our evening Zoolights season.
The West Entrance to the Zoo is expected to reopen in the spring of 2023.
The City of Calgary is hosting two open houses in September - one online and on in-person. Meet the project team and learn more about the Inglewood Station project and supporting Land Use Redesignation application. These events are open to all and will include key information about the project and the process ahead, along with opportunities to ask questions and share your feedback with the project team and City of Calgary Planning staff.

Residents in Alyth/Bonnybrook/Manchester, Bridgeland/Riverside, Inglewood and Ramsay are invited to respond to a brief survey regarding food access and security in your community. Your feedback will help better inform ANIDA’s response and future programming.

Read MoreLast week, the Ward 9 team had the pleasure of visiting the Youth Culinary Arts Program (YCAP) Market in the Inglewood Opportunity Hub.
A program by Wood’s Homes, YCAP was created to help fill a gap in alternative employment programs for multi-barriered youth in Calgary. YCAP teaches at-risk, unhoused youth (ages 15-29) employment skills in the culinary field - youth in the program receive 9-12 weeks of on-site training from Red Seal chefs, free of charge. A youth counsellor is also available to provide support with mental health, employment, housing, and to help teach important life skills.
